The first practice conference Energy Efficient Construction in the Republic of Belarus was held in Minsk

The first practice conference Energy Efficient Construction in the Republic of Belarus: up-to-date technologies and solutions, their implementation and application was held in the conference hall of the Belarus Hotel in Minsk on April 23, 2009. The Builders Union and Art Prestige Mediagroup, Publishing House, acted as organizers of the forum. 
Representatives of the Ministry for Construction and Architecture, housing and public utilities services and state and scientific institutions took part in the work of the conference: Energy Efficiency Department of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, Glavstroyexpertiza NUE (National Unitary Enterprise), Stroytekhnorm NUE, State Institution S.S. Ataev NIPTIS (research and process design NUE for construction industry) Institute, heads and professionals of leading design organizations, as well as companies specializing in manufacture of thermal insulation materials, technologies and energy efficiency equipment. A total of above 220 people took part in the forum.

Sustainable use of energy resources is a vital issue for Belarus, with the tendency to their continuing appreciation. Therefore, the conference became a significant platform for exchanging opinions and developing possible strategies in the domain of energy saving. 
By estimates of the International Energy Agency, it became possible to reduce the energy consumption per gross domestic product in Belarus over 1992 to 2006 from 800 kg of fuel in oil equivalent per USD 1,000 down to 380 kg. However, it should be admitted that the energy consumption per GDP is still very high, being 2-2.5 times higher than that of developed economies.
The ISOBUD Company took part in the work of the conference and made a presentation about energy efficiency and applicability of polyurethane foam in thermal insulation systems, and roof and wall sandwich panels. The Company plans to manufacture all these products at the production area in the city of Mogilev.

The energy forum demonstrated that there is a great variety of views and methods in pursuing the policy of energy saving in this country, first of all in construction; many pending issues in this area and new guidelines to solve these issues were identified.
